Fun and fitness for local dogs

Popular local agility training classes for dogs of all ages have been given a new lease of life thanks to support from one of the UK’s most successful premium pet food brands. Lisa Glover of Lovington near Castle Cary runs canine companions classes at North Barrow village hall, which are now benefiting from a new range of purpose-designed equipment thanks to financial sponsorship provided by Royal Canin, a brand of Crown Pet Foods which has its new UK HQ on the outskirts of Castle Cary.

Castle Cary Agility ClubThe new equipment features a range of jumps and raised walkways and stairs suitable for young, adolescent and more mature dogs, to help them learn new co-ordination skills, improve their agility and have fantastic fun, all at the same time. Lisa, a local member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, runs a number of different types of course for owners and their dogs and says the new equipment has made a huge difference to her small and friendly classes.

“I’m keen for all dogs and their owners to really enjoy the training sessions, as it’s all about fun and fulfilment,” she says. “I’m absolutely delighted with the new equipment and really grateful to Crown Pet Foods and all the guys at Royal Canin for their support and encouragement. As the new jumps and walkways are so simple to assemble it’s easy to prepare for each class, as well as my on-site training sessions for dogs and their owners in their own homes. And, it’s very reassuring to know that the equipment is designed specifically with dog safety in mind.”

For Crown Pet Foods, the support provided to Lisa is one of a number of initiatives being developed for local dog owners. “A healthy and happy dog is a wonderful companion and we’re delighted to support ventures like Lisa’s, as dog agility is such a popular form of training – for pets as well as their owners”, says Crown Pet Foods’ Managing Director, Francois Demauge. “Getting the right equipment can be pretty expensive for a local trainer, but we’re delighted to help someone as enthusiastic and experienced as Lisa and wish her and all her ‘four legged’ pupils every success for the future!”
